This piece explores the separation anxiety of a lonely woman, facing the reality that her partner will not be returning, and shows the process of how her grief and pain consumes her. I smear the make up because I want to show the ugliness of it all, of the ridiculousness of wearing all that make up. I bite my sleeve in a manner to describe how i cannot say what I want to truly say, of how controlling emotions and locking onesself up is a path to madness. This is inspired by traditional Japanese dance Butoh.
